Christmas Opening Hours and Emergency Dental Care

As the Christmas period approaches, we would like to help our patients understand what to do if they require urgent dental care during the festive break.

Please take a moment to review the information below so you know when we are open and what support is available should a dental emergency arise.

Christmas and New Year Emergency Cover

The following days are covered under the Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme:

  • Thursday 25 December Christmas Day
  • Friday 26 December Boxing Day
  • Thursday 1 January New Year’s Day

Emergency dental care is also covered:

  • Outside normal hours, between 6.00pm and 8.00am
  • On weekends

Days Not Covered by the Scheme

Emergency treatment is not covered during normal working hours, 8.00am to 6.00pm, on the following dates:

  • Monday 29 December
  • Tuesday 30 December
  • Wednesday 31 December

This applies even if the practice is closed on these days.

Important Information for Patients

  • Emergency treatment is provided solely for immediate pain relief or dental trauma
  • If you require urgent care on a day the practice is closed (excluding weekends and bank holidays), and you are referred to another practice within a 15 mile radius, this will not be covered by the scheme
  • Patients experiencing an emergency during weekday working hours who are outside the 15 mile radius may be eligible to submit a request for assistance
  • During the festive period, as many dental practices may be closed, patients may be advised to seek support via NHS emergency dental services

Our emergency helpline remains available throughout the Christmas period, and our practice answerphone will provide guidance on the most appropriate next steps.

For full details, you can view the Scheme Handbook here:

If you have any questions, please contact the practice before the Christmas break and our team will be happy to help.

We wish all our patients a safe, relaxing, and happy Christmas.
